NAIOP Minnesota Wins National Award
for "Best Use of Technology"
NAIOP Minnesota, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, was honored recently for creative and effective coupling of its various communications tools. The association, a Harrington Company client, won the “Best Use of Technology Award” in national competition.
The award recognizes NAIOP Minnesota’s success in tying together its blog, electronic newsletters, chapter website and email correspondence. The initiative has opened new avenues of communication and leveraged the power of each platform.
For example, the association’s Universe quarterly newsletter was made fully digital, and now links readers to its blog, allowing readers to comment on featured stories and view photos of chapter events. The award also noted use of live updates, direct from the course at the association’s annual golf tournament, creating a visible presence at one of the chapter’s most popular events. Golfers could get instant updates on their smart-phones, and members who were not able to attend could follow along from their office. Golfers and non-golfers alike posted comments, and the golf-blog post generated some of the heaviest web traffic of the year.
The initiative was undertaken by NAIOP Minnesota volunteers in conjunction with The Harrington Company staff.
