NAIOP Minnesota, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, hosted a morning of networking followed by an address by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. The program, titled “Let’s Get Fiscal: Let Me Hear The Budget Talk,” took place Feb. 12 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Bloomington, Minn.

Following a networking event, 300 attendees gathered for the hour-long program.  Governor Pawlenty spoke on proposed solutions to the State general fund budget and their potential impact on commercial real estate and the businesses and tenants that fill those properties. The Governor then took extensive questions from the audience.

Joining the Governor were Commissioners Ward Einess of the Minnesota Department of Revenue and Tom Hanson of Minnesota Management and Budget, the Governor’s spokespeople on the budget’s income and expense sides.

Those in attendance were credited for one hour of continuing real estate education.
