John Francis Nominated for Midwest Society of Association Executives' Board of Directors

President of The Harrington Company Seeks to Join MSAE Leadership

John Francis, president of The Harrington Company, has been nominated to serve on the Midwest Society of Association Executives’ (MSAE) Board of Directors. Francis, one of six nominees, will be placed on the ballot for consideration at MSAE’s Annual Meeting and Expo on June 7, 2011. Directors serve three-year terms on the MSAE Board.

Leadership isn’t something new to Francis. As president, he serves as The Harrington Company’s primary ambassador, cultivating healthy relationships between The Harrington Company and its clients, especially through building and maintaining strong connections to association leadership. He also oversees the day-to-day operations of The Harrington Company, including corporate and client financial reporting.

In addition to his leadership at The Harrington Company, Francis served two three-year terms on the AMC Institute (AMCi) Board of Directors before moving on to the AMCi Executive Committee where he served one year terms as the treasurer, vice president, president elect, president and immediate past president. Francis is also an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and currently serves on the ASAE AMC Key Committee with previous service on the ASAE Accreditation Commission and the ASAE AMC Section Council. His involvement in these organizations includes honors as a speaker and panelist at both AMCi and ASAE meetings and educational conferences.

When asked what he will bring to MSAE, Francis responded, “I hope there is an opportunity to expand MSAE’s professional development offerings to half day and full day programming, similar to the varying programming ASAE offers, but on a local level. This will hopefully reduce the cost of professional development and provide additional local networking opportunities to association professionals. In addition, I recognize the diverse range in experience among association staff members, so I would welcome the opportunity to use my experience to help MSAE meet the needs of association professionals in the varying stages of their careers.”
